The collection describes her childhood and her light-heartedness on her island, Sicily, or as she calls it Mirabilia, a place where the incredible is possible, where what is extraordinary lives in the essence of being profoundly an island in the center of the Mediterranean, a crossroads and melting pot of peoples who have enriched the treasure, a place where extraordinary things can happen, where a wide variety of singular characters live and where every rule or symbol can be overturned.
